Here at Smooth Sailing Radio: A Yacht Rock Radio Station we've done the work. Spent countless hours in the lab, pouring over the data and fine tuning the formulas - all in the pursuit of smooth perfection.
Three parts McD, two parts Q, a generous helping of La Bounty, and Graydon for days - Hold the Buffett.
Yacht Rock is a style of smooth and sophisticated music originating in Los Angeles in the late-70s and thriving up until the mid-80s. It's often thrown into the "soft rock" bucket, but yacht rock draws more from rnb and jazz influences than it does from folk, country or ballads.
Our catalogue leans heavily on the Yachtski Scale but tends to drift further into those jazz & rnb waters. Our motto: "It might not be Yacht Rock, but it's not taking a dump on the genre."

We're just a dedicated bunch of music nerds trying to make a yacht rock radio station that doesn't suck. We're all about collecting music and digging deep to find new and exciting smooth tunes to unleash upon the world. We're doing it for the love of it.
Because the world needs more smooth music and there are too many amazing tunes out there to not do this. People think Yacht Rock is about boats, captains hats and fruity cocktails. They should know that there's far more to it than that.
Tune in LIVE to Smooth Sailing Radio each and every week for a fresh episode of the North West Coast with Matt Bird, direct from the studios of Radio PVS. Guranteed algorithm-free.
Yacht rock & adjacent classics on vinyl, brand new smooth tunes from all over the globe and deep dives into the artists and the sidemen.
It started in late 2016 with a penchant for collecting dollar-bin yacht rock records, spurred on by the Beyond Yacht Rock podcast and their tomfoolery. A bunch of Mixcloud sets and home demos later I found myself at local station, North West FM, and in 2019 the North West Coast was born.
After the pandemic blew that to pieces I built Radio PVS and Smooth Sailing Radio in my front room and brought the NWC along for the ride.
